Science Virtual Experiment

Learning through inquiry is essential for all students’ learning as emphasized by the new Science Curriculum in the SPN21. Inquiry learning helps students to develop thinking skills as well as process skills in order to carry out the experiments. However, the use of ICT in teaching science has also been mentioned in the SPN21 curriculum where it wants all the citizens to be ICT literate in many ways including in science subject. The use of ICT in the teaching and learning science is believed to enhance students learning. There are a lot of useful activities in the websites that teachers can apply to students.

In the following report, one of the useful and informative websites was used to be introduced to the pupils. The website was http://ww.bbc.co.uk. From this website, teachers can select on which subject they want to use and for which level they wish to apply to. The one that we used was http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize/science/physical_processes/friction/play.shtml. The page also provided notes and quizzes for each topic.

Euclidean and Geometer’s Sketchpad

Besides PC Logo, the Euclidean program can be used to draw lines and some basic shapes and polygons. It also measures the lengths as well as angles. Whereas Geometer’s Sketchpad can be used to draw circles and it has the ability to measure the radius, circumference and the area using the ‘measure’ button. The examples of the two activities can be seen below:
